Torssen is an anthropologist in Hawaii. He is studying social habits of Hawaiins who have to deal with lots of tourists versus Hawaiins who have to deal with outsiders who stay for a long time. He found something interesting, whenever a Hawaiin used to tourists meets an outsider that stays, he can make friends rather well. However when a Hawaiin who is used to long stayers meets tourists they don't do as well because they take longer to make friends and by then the tourists are gone. Though it is hard to do this research because most Hawaiins are half and half so they end up making friends fast anyway.
